See It, Do It, Track It, Celebrate It!
Changing how you manage nutrition and exercise isn't about making yourself more attractive-because you are already a beautiful person. Eating and exercise are really tools used to set goals and to demonstrate that you are capable of great things-but it's about taking baby steps and celebrating those accomplishments along the way.
Getting to your destination means taking detours,
changing plans, and sometimes going backward before you can start moving
forward again. Building confidence doesn't mean you ignore where you fell short. You need to acknowledge that you are not perfect nor should you be. The process
requires that you be honest, factual and non-judgmental. You need to identify where you can improve
but also acknowledge what you are doing well.
Checking in on what and how you are doing isn’t
something you do once a week, or once or twice a week, or once a month, it's
something you do each day sometimes 20 times a day. It all depends on how much support you need
to give yourself. Identify your gaps or stumbling blocks then identify a plan
or strategy to address them and move forward.
Visualize yourself implementing
those changes. This will help you stay
on the road and out of the ditch. Visualization can be a life saver! Visualization is more than just closing your
eyes and seeing a picture of what it is that you want. It’s about living the experience in your mind-experiencing the physical sensations
of your heart beat, your breathing and experiencing the emotions of doing it. For example, if you want to improve your
emotional state, think of an experience that brought you extreme
happiness. Where were you? What did you
see? Were you hot? Was your heart beating fast? Were you smiling? What were you
feeling emotionally? If you want to improve on the time of your walk, then see
the path in front of you, feel the sunshine on your face, experience the
quickness of your legs and the movement of your arms. Feel your focus. Then just do it!
Getting excited about your workout isn’t always possible,
but if you are able to visualize your workout during your warm up, it will help
you get in the right frame of mind.
Regardless of your frame of mind, you have your purpose, you set your
goals, you chose an activity, you set aside the time, now your need to show up,
and do your best. Some days will be
better than others, but the fact you showed up and you tried is a great
thing, and needs to be celebrated. Each small celebration is a brick to building the foundation to greater self confidence and believing in the #BYouTful you that you already are!
